I addition: CentOS has no Z-Streams, hence all CentOS users afaics will
be always on the latest RHEL release of each family

Wohh, strong words. Just out of interest (I don't want to spread wrong
information's): What precisely is not true?
Please note that I fully agree to this:

I don't doubt that. But note that my point was that the bulk of users
(maybe majority would have been the better word) is on the latest
release of a RHEL family (RHEL4, RHEL5). And it seems you agree to that:
