I'm active I just have not find the time for this because the update
is not straightforward at all. gstreamer-ffmpeg is using the libav fork
of ffmpeg, and on 0.10.13 has started using a bunch of new new features from
there such as support for splitting encoding / decoding work over multiple
threads. I'm pretty sure that our "regular" ffmpeg also has this needed
multithread stuff, and hopefully uses the exact same API but this will need
to be checked and then once build the new gstreamer-ffmpeg will needs lots
of testing ...
