ffmpeg vs ffmpeg-compat

I just tried a local mock build of xbmc for f18, and I got the
following error in build.log:

  checking for FFMPEG... no
  configure: error: Could not find a required library. Please see the
README for your platform.

Looking at root.log:

  DEBUG util.py:257:   --> ffmpeg-compat-devel-0.6.5-3.fc18.i686

I expected mock to pull in ffmpeg, not ffmpeg-compat. What's the best
way to handle this?
