SRPM URL:

Description:
Use this package to install the packages required to run vmware locally.
This package does not include the free vmware-server or vmware-server-console
package itself. They can be obtained from the vmware website.
Can't be in Fedora:
- it's a meta package
- it enables use of non fedora software
- the proper packaging should really be done by the upstream author.
- the upstream is not open source
- the upstream do not support the fedora distribution
- FESCO discussed it recently, and voted that helper packages for third party
apps shall be blocked from Fedora:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=478007#c17
The original Fedora review request:

FESCO item tracking:

FESCO discussion should show up soon for 2009-01-30:

=====
So, do we want to allow helper packages like this in RPM Fusion ?
Note it does not Require: any packages external to Fedora/RPM Fusion, nor does
it attempt to download them.
Others have mentioned that other external no source apps might include skype
etc, that could receive similar RPM Fusion packaging assistance ?

[Bug 171] New: Review Request: rpmfusion-config-display - tool to manage proprietary graphic drivers
by RPM Fusion Bugzilla
http://bugzilla.rpmfusion.org/show_bug.cgi?id=171
Summary: Review Request: rpmfusion-config-display - tool to
manage proprietary graphic drivers
Product: Package Reviews
Version: Current
Platform: All
OS/Version: GNU/Linux
Status: NEW
Severity: normal
Priority: P5
Component: Review Request
AssignedTo: rpmfusion-package-review(a)rpmfusion.org
ReportedBy: s.adam(a)diffingo.com
CC: rpmfusion-package-review(a)rpmfusion.org
Blocks: 75
Estimated Hours: 0.0
SPEC:
http://downloads.diffingo.com/rpmfusion-config-display/rpmfusion-config-d...
SRPM:
http://downloads.diffingo.com/rpmfusion-config-display/rpmfusion-config-d...
Description:
rpmfusion-config-display is a graphical and command-line tool to manage the
various display drivers offered at the RPM Fusion repository. It configures the
X server configuration dynamically, allowing for autoselection of an
appropriate driver based on the installed hardware or manual override by the
user.
rpmlint output:
rpmfusion-config-display.noarch: W: service-default-enabled
/etc/rc.d/init.d/rpmfusion-config-display
rpmfusion-config-display.noarch: W: service-default-enabled
/etc/rc.d/init.d/rpmfusion-config-display
rpmfusion-config-display.noarch: E: subsys-not-used
/etc/rc.d/init.d/rpmfusion-config-display
These can be ignored since the we don't need a subsys, and the service should
be enabled by default.
Upgrade plan: Once rpmfusion-config-display has been implemented, it will
obsolete livna-config-display and allow for the parallel installation of
multiple drivers as well. The README.developers file contains information how
to create the a driver config file which enables rpmfusion-config-display to
configure the user's system for that driver.

[Bug 25] New: truecrypt - Free Open-Source Disk Encryption Software

Spec URL: http://rathann.fedorapeople.org/review/truecrypt.spec
SRPM URL: http://rathann.fedorapeople.org/review/truecrypt-5.0a-1.src.rpm
Main Features:
- Creates a virtual encrypted disk within a file and mounts it as a
real disk.
- Encrypts an entire hard disk partition or a storage device such as
USB flash drive.
- Encryption is automatic, real-time (on-the-fly) and transparent.
- Provides two levels of plausible deniability, in case an adversary
forces you to reveal the password:
1) Hidden volume (steganography).
2) No TrueCrypt volume can be identified (volumes cannot be
distinguished from random data).
- Encryption algorithms: AES-256, Blowfish (448-bit key), CAST5,
Serpent, Triple DES, and Twofish. Mode of operation: LRW (CBC
supported as legacy).
Why not in Fedora?
Problematic licence.

[Bug 342] New: Review request: tivodecode - Convert a .TiVo file from TiVoToGo to a normal MPEG
by RPM Fusion Bugzilla

Summary: Review request: tivodecode - Convert a .TiVo file from
TiVoToGo to a normal MPEG
Product: Package Reviews
Version: Current
Platform: All
OS/Version: GNU/Linux
Status: NEW
Severity: normal

SPEC: http://www.symetrix.com/~bjohnson/projects/rpmfusion/tivodecode.spec
SRPM:
http://www.symetrix.com/~bjohnson/projects/rpmfusion/tivodecode-0.2-0.pre...
Description:
This software converts a .TiVo file (produced by the TiVoToGo functionality on
recent TiVo software releases) to a normal MPEG file. This has the same
functionality as using TiVo's supplied DirectShow DLL on Windows with a tool
such as DirectShowDump, but is portable to different architectures and
operating systems, and runs on the command line using files or pipes. The
conversion still requires the valid MAK of the TiVo which recorded the file,
so it cannot be used to circumvent their protection, simply to provide the
same level of access as is already available on Windows.
Why Not Fedora? Patent encumbered.

tivodecode.src: W: invalid-license QUALCOMM

QUALCOMM license is not on the fedora licensing page:
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Licensing, although it appears to be a variation
on a BSD license.

Description:
OpenTTD is modeled after the original Microprose Transport Tycoon game
by Chris Sawyer and enhances the game experience dramatically. Many
features were inspired by TTDPatch while others are original.
It requires the original Transport Tycoon Deluxe data files.

5 packages and 0 specfiles checked; 0 errors, 4 warnings.
The warnings are due to OpenTTDs weird build system that doesn't conform with
automake/configure standards
This is a package from the Wishlist.
(Still) Needs abandonware game-file and thus may not live in Fedora.

description: Pitfdll is a GStreamer plugin that allows the use of binary files,

playback codec in GStreamer-based media applications, such as Totem.
With this plugin, people can playback proprietary file formats for
which no free software implementation exists yet.
why not in Fedora?: Probably because of codecs
