It is possible to build telegram-desktop against the system Qt: https://github.com/mymedia2/tdesktop/tree/debian/1.0.6-1/debian/patches I would strongly urge you to do that. I think using a bundled Qt is a very bad idea, as it will invariably suffer from degraded desktop integration.
