Hi there,
Can you explain why you think this is obsolete ?
At least, it will purposely prevent to commit large files into SCM.
Curing such miss-take is very painful on the sysadmin side.
Please consider using a wildcard with a significant part of the main
archive you are using instead or updating on every snapshot or even
deleting the file.
