Seriously -- what's wrong with providing a lightweight web browser? It starts
up blazingly fast and renders reasonably well. I'm sure I'm not the only user
who finds that useful.

i can't believe what i'm reading.  I shouldnt laugh, I like my old stuff too, but its probably going to have to stay a custom for yourself, I cant see this getting into any repo either.
