VERBOSE=1 could be added, sure, but this makes build logs _huge_.
Wrong ... VERBOSE=1 is a *MUST*
In the past I
only enabled it when something went wrong.
Such as in your case:
Building on ppc64 goes wrong, but your logs don't provide sufficient
infomation allow investigation.
