I downloaded some roms and checked the application itself. Apparently only the null and oss engines [1] are getting built inside the qt application and in Fedora 10, I was not able to get any sound out of it. You should make sure that at least alsa [2] engine is built too. [1] You can see the available sound engines in Settings->Sound.
