It works! Now I use VDPAU_DRIVER=va_gl option to make (s)mplayer to work with VDPAU enabled. I use Intel HD3000, libvdpau 7.0. If I use VDPAU_DRIVER=i965 option, vdpauinfo says: So the hack doesn't work. One or both of updating to latest upstream (0.2.1) + dropping the patch and fixing up the .so symlinks fixes vdpauinfo to load the .so. Then it complained about not having libva-driver-intel, but after installing that it was happy. I was subsequently able to play a mp4 without burning my lap. Yay! ;-) Please add Requires: libva-driver-intel and update to latest upstream and I'll approve. Looks like URLs got shifted somehow. There are many places where autoloading can be fixed. For example, one may change libvdpau code itself: make it probe not only DRI2DriverVDPAU, but DRI2DriverDRI too. As far as I know they have equal values for all current drivers. It should work, but breaks the whole idea of having second DRI name.
