Description:
Linux kernel module for many HP Omnibook/Pavillon, Toshiba Satellite
(with Phoenix BIOS) and Compal laptops. It is based on the module found

I'd be very happy to see this in the repos. Unfortunately, I have never
reviewed a kmod before. Is there anything I should particularly look at?

1. If I understand the guidelines correctly, the common package should rather
be called just “omnibook” and provide omnibook-kmod-common.
2. Does this make sense:
BuildArch: noarch
# needed for plague to make sure it builds for i586 and i686
ExclusiveArch: i586 i686 x86_64 ?
Other than these two, it mostly seems to be fine, as compared with the
template.

Also, there is a weird rm -rf ${RPM_BUILD_ROOT} at the beginning of
kmod-omnibook install stage, which rpmlint complains about. The same error is
present in the template in the wiki.
Other than that, packages seem fine. I'll test them ASAP.

It doesn't build if it's there (try and see!). And since nothing is getting
installed in %install, I think it's safe to leave it out. Especially since
current rpm's %install macro does rm -rf %{buildroot} automatically anyway.

OK, agreed. I'm working on a patch which will allow for detection of my laptop
(satellite a100), but I'm having some issues. It can be added after import,
though.

dmesg output when loading omnibook
For Toshiba Satellite A300-1EG changing LCD brightness using Fn+F6/F7 still
doesn't work. Brightness applet or gnome-power-manager are unable to control
brightness, can manually set it using /proc/acpi/video/VGA/LCD/brightness.
This feature worked on Ubuntu 8.04-9.10 with omnibook module installed from
source http://packages.kirya.net/debian/pool/main/o/omnibook/ using
module-assistant.
