With Fedora 23 I was using a command to update the driver (I think) from rpmfusion. I made a note... but can't find it. Booted back into F23 and working again. F24 won't boot. F23 lasts for about 6 minutes then goes back to an F24 boot terminal and needs a cold boot. This from Windows machine 1. Yumex not installed. 2. dnf cannot find yumex. Question. With the update, will rpmfusion still be in my list of repos, to get the nvidia driver? And will it point to the F24 repos? What kernel are you running ? please check with command : # uname -a Maybe is the new kernel-4.6.3-300.fc24, please try use kernel-4.5.7- 300.fc24

Anyway, always be sure that have kernel-devel installed, please run as root : dnf install kernel-devel-$(uname -r)

If you're getting graphical boot I would be surprised as the kernel options you added are to specifically block the driver from loading in the initrd, however, that doesn't stop it from loading when you start X as far as I know. Yes, they are F23 related and No there isn't any contention. The kmod packages are kernel version specific. So you'll have one for each kernel installed on your system. Since you just recently upgraded from F23 to F24 you'll still have several F23 kernels installed and the associated kmod. The only thing that should be noted is this... I'm pretty sure that F24 was released with 4.5.5-300 kernel and it seems that that is the latest version available on the rpmfusion repo. But, very shortly after F24 was released the kernel in Fedora was update to 4.5.7-300. So, if you upgraded your system via dnf and were using the akmod it would/should have built the corresponding kmod-nvidia package. Now, the only rub is that it will have been rebuilt on the first boot into F24 BUT there is no message to the console that the package is getting built and it can take several minutes to build depending on the hardware. In the meantime you'd be left with a blinking cursor in the upper left corner of the screen and some people may think boot has failed and then abort the procedure.
