Ok, I haven't extensively tested go7007 but it works with a video source as a
v4l2 device and alsa audio input. so good. (there is a need for a firmware, but
I don't think a requires on the firmware will be necessary as this package
bundled differents firmwares)
About the ralink STA drivers. Unless I'm wrong, there are three kindq of
drivers for each devices:
- The one (vanilla) from ralink (named rt2860sta.ko rt2870sta.ko rt3070sta.ko)
- The modified version (forked) that is in staging. (named rt2860sta.ko
rt2870sta.ko rt3070sta.ko, also...)
- The complete rewrite (named rt2800pci.ko rt2800usb.ko and so on)
that one might not be ready, but when it will, it will be in fedora's kernel.
So the problem here, is to have two differents drivers for the same devices and
using the same name. So we won't be able to activate one or blacklist the
other.
There are two solutions I could expect at least.
-Either the staging driver is better, and we only provides it.
Then if ralink's release a new version, the downside not to have the last
release, is less important than to have a better supported driver.
- Either there is a need to have them both, and the staging-kmod one need to
Conflicts the the rt*-kmod.
mac80211/ieee80211 and rtl8187se case
What I meant with that is that it is not garantied that ieee80211 based drivers
will not conflict with mac80211 based ones. But it's not relevant anymore and
rtl8187se.ko seems to have ieee80211 stack compiled internally for that reason.
So this will not lead to a problem.
So the only remaing point is what to do with Ralink's drivers ?
