At least two "famous" projects have done such a transition... And both relative
to Flash by the way:
- Gnash (but written in C++)
- Swfdec (written in C, like Swftools, but dead now).
But keep in mind that swftools is multiplatform. I'm not sure the devs are
willing to support GStreamer under Windows, or implement a Phonon-like solution
to use the appropriate multimedia system according to the OS.
