The simple answer is because Fedora has 2 previous kernels installed and I can simply choose the last 3.10 and continue happily on my way while this is fixed.

I'll go for choice #4:

Oh, I don't have any 3rd party hardware in my box that is not supported out-of-the-box.  Fedora ships a very usable driver I can use for my hardware.  However, as a gamer and a 3D user I Choose (see, I'm excercising my right and freedom to choose) the drivers that give me higher frames and more stability, even tho they are closed source.
