OK.  I tried this command line on an HD recording from an old BBC 
RedButton_HD DVB-T2 and it produced a vlc-playable file.  I suppose 
Google would have found complaints if kdenlive was failing to transcode, 
but I have seen failures earlier because of other changes in ffmpeg 
syntax.  I stopped the transcoding early. I haven't tried running 
kdenlive yet.   The input filename here is unrelated to that of the 
original recording, and I'm not recommending use of this command line!
