I created the /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist-nouveau as per your suggestion,
checked the kernel command line, and rebooted.

The command line is clearly listed at the top of Xorg.0.log as

[    13.863] Current Operating System: Linux snoopy.tebibyte.org
4.0.6-300.fc22.x86_64 #1 SMP Tue Jun 23 13:58:53 UTC 2015 x86_64
[    13.863] Kernel command line:
BOOT_IMAGE=/vmlinuz-4.0.6-300.fc22.x86_64
root=/dev/mapper/fedora_snoopy-root ro rd.lvm.lv=fedora
_snoopy/swap rd.lvm.lv=fedora_snoopy/root rhgb quiet nouveau.modeset=0
rd.driver.blacklist=nouveau video=vesa:off
[

But X is still loading nouveau as per my earlier message.

Previously I found that when I uninstall nouveau completely, X still
tries to load it but fails (see log in my earlier message).

Thanks,
Chris R.
