Is RPMFusion still maintained?

Yes, RPM Fusion is still maintained but we're in a major infrastructure
change-over so things are a little slow right now. I would guess that
whatever is in the EL5 repository would be all you can get, there won't
likely be any updates. I'm sure once the infra upgrades are complete we'll
properly branch for EL7.

None of this should be necessary, EPEL by policy does not replace any
packages provided in base and likewise RPM Fusion doesn't replace/conflict
with any packages in base or EPEL.

If you're willing to go to that much trouble you may want to consider
becoming a packager and support them officially once the infra upgrades are
complete :)
