It might, theoretically. I was talking about the yum plugin also.
Imagine having a repository of nosrc.rpm-s (and maybe src.rpm-s also)
and a yum plugin that would launch rpmbuild to build them. Either
rpmbuild or the plugin itself would download the sources, build the
package and install it. Then there is no need for a separate gui
application, user can choose to use pup/pirut or commandline yum -- if
he prefers -- to install and update such packages.

See -- you have the advantage of installing all the things with the
single tool. Probably it would be desirable just to create a category
such as "Untrusted third-party applications" in comps.xml.

I must admin I am not sure how to deal with user interaction if needed
-- permission from user to download blob and a huge warning that he's
downloading a stinky proprietary crap, and requiring him to accept a
kind of encumbering license, to be legally correct. As I've never
written a yum plugin I have no idea if yum deals with this, but I can
imagine it how it would be.
