Nvidia card swap

Currently running rpm fusion akmod-nvidia drivers
on an older card.
I am about to install a newer (different) nvidia card,
which should use same driver (how do they differentiate? Should I care?)
Can I shut down, swap cards, reboot and wait -
or ... do something else?

VLC problems in fc25 too

I reported earlier that vlc-3.0.0-0.16 gave immediate segfaults in
fedora 24. It does the same for me in fedora 25 with SD and HD TV
recordings and DVD .iso images. Before the segfault it reports 'libEGL
warning: DRI2: failed to authenticate', but that may not be the actual
cause. Still using the nVidia 304 driver.
vlc-3.0.0-0.9.fc25.x86_64 works for me, as does smplayer-17.3.0-1

New Nvidia card

I'm starting video editing. The app 'insists' on a
better video card.
Looking at Nvidia GTX 1050Ti
as being all I can afford.
Fedora 25, 64 bit.
Has anyone used this card / heard good or bad reports

nvidia-304xx and libOpenCL.so.1

Hi: I've posted several times recently about nvidia-304xx in fc25. In
particular, for me, it crashes recent versions of vlc, but without any
obvious diagnostics.
But I find that get_iplayer makes the following complaints while
finalising a download:
ffmpeg: /usr/lib64/nvidia-304xx/libOpenCL.so.1: no version information
available (required by ffmpeg)
ffmpeg: /usr/lib64/nvidia-304xx/libOpenCL.so.1: no version information
available (required by /usr/lib64/libavfilter.so.6)
ffmpeg: /usr/lib64/nvidia-304xx/libOpenCL.so.1: no version information
available (required by /usr/lib64/libavutil.so.55)
I don't see problems in playback of the final download. For best
viewing I normally use the mythtv DLNA server and my TV.
Yesterday I switched a kubuntu 16.04 box back from nouveau to
nvidia-304. ISTR seeing that more video-driver packages were installed
then, and get_iplayer did not make similar complaints afterwards.
