thanks Ed.. That leads to a ...run file (assume x86 binary).
Yes, for you it leads to "dnf install akmod-nvidia"
One final one.
IF (question) that is the driver provided by Nvidia, how does
that relate to akmod, and the kernel mods?
Do Nvidia provide that.. hosted by rpmfusion, or .. something else?
I.e. how are the drivers 'wrapped up' for dnf to use please?
nVidia provides (I wouldn't say supply since they have no connection with rpmfusion)
all the drivers for their HW for anyone to pick up and install.
rpmfusion folks take what nVidia provides and packages it in a convenient format for
folks to install by the standard dnf path. If it were not for rpmfusion you'd have
to manually do things like blacklist the nouveau driver by manually editing grub
files. The fine folks at rpmfusion make all that unnecessary.
The details of how the fine rpmfusion folks go about the business of creating
akmod-nvidia and updating it as nVidia releases new versions of the drivers is
something I don't have insight to....and frankly it is enough for me to call it
"magic". :-)
