They basically took the rt2870 driver and modified it to support rt3070. There is nothing wrong for them with stealing their own code. But there were a few issues that I had to solve: - For some reason they took an older rt2870 driver version and modified it. Hence the driver will not compile for Fedora kernels 2.6.25 and newer. So I had the re-introduce our iwe-stream patch. - They did not even bother to change the filenames or variable names in the code. The code says "rt2870" but it actually means "rt3070". Confusing. I had to rename the RT2870STA.DAT file to RT3070STA.DAT to avoid conflicts with our rt2870 kmod. Other than these two things, both the common and the kmod package is identical to our rt2870 packages in rpmfusion. I admit that this package is crap. Hi, latest mednafen fails on ppc64/devel with the following error: {standard input}: Assembler messages: {standard input}:11673: Error: operand out of domain (26 is not a multiple of 4) I was suggested it might be a problem with libc, but upstream didn't come up with a fix so far. Could any ppc coders help? Otherwise I'd have to excludearch ppc64 (and maybe ppc as well). Hi, I just made an (in)formal review of https://bugzilla.rpmfusion.org/show_bug.cgi?id=406 corresponding to all the points in the Fedora guidelines. I'm currently sponsored as a Fedora contributor but don't have any package in rpmfusion yet (bug 414 is waiting for a formal review). So, am I allowed to take ownership of this review or should I be sponsored in rpmfudion first? The wiki is unclear on this point and states 2 things: 1: "As time permits, a reviewer will review your package. A reviewer is either a Fedora sponsored packager or an RPM Fusion only sponsored packager." 2: "A review request should only be accepted by a maintainer that has at least one package in the RPM Fusion repository and for newcomers only by a sponsor." BUG: kmod-nvidia-PAE bricks my notebook

Hi there, quick introduction of myself to this list: I'm the person responsible for bringing Linux on Desktop PCs & Notebooks at Fujitsu Siemens Computers. Doing this job for about 7 years now, but today (btw: my birthday ;-) I got a very nice gift. The machine that is involved is our CELSIUS H270 mobile workstation. A customer reported display problems after installing kmod-nvidia-PAE-180.25-1.fc10.i686.rpm on his machine. He got the display repaired but after the next boot the problem occured again. This is why the problem arrived at my desk. I took my own H270 notebook and installed Fedora 10 on it. Then I added the yum repos for rpmfusion and installed the latest kmod-nvidia-PAE.i686 on my machine. Next step was reboot, and all I saw was the progress bar on the bottom of the screen. In the moment the X server was supposed to start the screen went black. Turning off the machine and turning it on again results in - still a black screen, not even BIOS startup is reported - system obviously doesn't boot, you don't see any hard disk activity - even connecting an external display via DVI doesn't help So it seems that I can fully confirm our customers problem. The installation of the nidia driver from rpmfusion bricks the machine. Don't worry, I don't want to blame this to you. Our main concern is now: 1. What is exactly damaged? I'm from software development and can't tell, but I will forward the "bricked machine" to our hardware specialists to see if the can do a "post mortem" analysis. 2. We will contact nNVIDIA tomorrow. One of the next steps in analysis is that we reinstall Fedora 10 again and then see what happens if we use the nvidia-installer from the nVidia website. If we're lucky we can still brick the machine, then we can urge nVIDIA to debug what's wrong. If we're unlucky we have to find out what's different in the RPMs from rpmfusion. So my first question to you is if you can provide information on which "official" build from nVidia your RPMs are based.
