Package bundling exception request: PyCXX in freecad

During the review process for freecad[1] it was discovered that it had a bundled copy of PyCXX. It's unusual as it is not designed to be built into a stand alone library, static or shared. In fact it does not contain a make file. The package currently does not exist in Fedora, however, a review request for it on Fedora has been submitted[2] but due to the above it is setup as a -devel only package and ends up installing files into strange/non-standard locations. Additionally, the requester needs sponsoring so there's no telling when the package might be accepted. The author recommends leaving it bundled[3]. I'm not sure of any security implications since this is just a helper library. If the consensus is to allow the exception, my plan is to do the following: - Leave a commented out BR: for python-pycxx with link to the review request in case it gets accepted. - Add a "Provides: bundled(python-pycxx)" with version per the Fedora guidelines. Thx, but the fix existed back to March and was fetched from the upstream vlc repository. At least, can you verify to have mplayer in sync with devel and F-17 ? After the FFmpeg/x264 bootstrap is done, I will handle libquicktime vlc and mjpegtools and leave others maintainers the oppotunity to submit their rebuilt until tommorrow. (Then I will submit a rebuilt job from the remaining FFmpeg/x264 dependencies). Depending on how the rebuilt went , I will push package out then or later this week. Nicolas (kwizart)

I don't know if there's any way to delete a package I built by mistake? As long as they take the higher version, then that should be ok.

Qtractor alternatives revisited

Hi all I'm returning to implementing alternatives rather than providing an upstream patch at this stage. There is only one binary in this package. The only other files are an icon, desktop file and a Qt translation. Is it permissible to package only this binary in RPMFusion and have it require the Fedora package? I can provide a launcher script in /usr/bin which does `readlink %{_bindir}/qtractor` so that the desktop file in the Fedora package will work for both. The Qtractor About dialog states explicitly whether MP3 support is disabled or not, so its easy enough to determine which had been launched by the desktop file. Or should I provide alternative icons, desktop file and translations for both? thanks Brendan
