If I understand you right, I should go here:

of the LICENSE file, correct?

There are usually several ways to ask upstream for a fix:
* open a ticket in their bug reporting system
* send a message to their mailing list
* mail one of the author
* etc
To keep track of what is upstream doing, opening a ticket is really suggested.
