I preffer dns round robin with a low ttl, if one machine goes down,
simple remove it from dns.
config both machines in repo is not a good idea, because will eat
bandwith from users with low speed internet

Just remembered something: This mini-mirrormanager (or a real one, once we set
one up) will be a crucial part of out infra that can easily be the single point
of failure as all our users will run into trouble if the script or the machine
that runs it has problems.
We should keep that in mind; maybe setting up two machines that host this
mini-mirrormanager and DNS round robin between them might be a good idea. Or we
configure both in the repo files if possible.
