I have been using the same root for a while now. Things work with no problems.
Let me give you an example:
When you mix Fedora with RPMFusion-Free, the cache directory
mock_dir/cache/fedora-10-x86_64/yum_cache/
will have these contents
fedora rpmfusion-free updates-released yumcache.lock
The RPMFusion-Free RPM's are stored in the rpmfusion-free directory.
Now when I use fedora-10-x86_64.cfg, that rpmfusion-free directory is not used
during mock build. Only the fedora and the updates-released directories are
used. So RPMFusion RPM's will not get mixed with Fedora ones.
If I use my custom made rpmfusion-free-10-x86_64.cfg (which uses the same
root), it uses all fedora, rpmfusion-free and updates-released directories from
cache.
Sometimes, I make a mistake to build an RPMFusion package with
fedora-10-x86_64.cfg. The RPM's I want are in the
mock_dir/cache/fedora-10-x86_64/yum_cache/rpmfusion-free
directory. But they won't get picked up and mock fails. Then I correct my
mistake and use my rpmfusion-free-10-x86_64.cfg and everything goes fine.
I've been using this setup for 4-5 months now. I never encountered problems.
