I have heard/been told (but not witnessed) of the same thing happening
since F-10 with the kmod-wl package. There's been a few comments on my
blog about it.
I've had quite a lot of people who install my akmod package for the
Poulsbo video driver report that it pulls in the PAE kernel -devel
package, even though the installed and running kernel is i586. Actually
it happened to me too, originally. It happens a lot for Poulsbo because
all Poulsbo-based systems use the i586 kernel (the CPU can't handle the
i686-PAE kernel). This is on F11.
