Sorry, but what's a "unofficial" review?
A normal review for a new
packager to fedora is performed by a sponsor.
However, anybody can perform an unofficial review - it is the same steps and
process to follow (as a full review), but you can not approve the package.
Also, you should mention that you yourself are a new packager (at the start of
your review within bugzilla), so that we get the parties (packager, unofficial
reviewer and potential sponsor) communicating about what changes need to occur
to the package. The idea is to improve the package so that it is considered of
good enough quality to approve and hence publish as part of Fedora or RPM
Fusion repos.
The second goal is to ensure the Fedora project guidelines will be followed in
the creation of your packages, in many areas. It can be pretty hard to do this
for your own packages; performing the unofficial review of another's packaging
is great way to get good exposure to the way / why things are guided as
written.
It is worth mentioning that items you feel to be a divergence from the
guidelines should be notated clearly, and provide a link to the guidelines to
help the packager understand your point of view.
If there is a particular language and/or package that interests you, this may
be a better choice to assist with than one you know nothing about...
