Note I'm willing to help with getting things to compile with 4x,
although I
don't have time to do the main effort here, I can assist where you encounter
errors you cannot solve yourself.

I have updated it for gcc4. I would appreciate if you take some time to fix the
warnings as they now spits a lot of warnings, with the examples.
The debug-info has not yet been solved.
