You can
get a fully compatible version (done by me, as the vlc
maintainer within RPM Fusion).

Sure, enable F-9 repositories temporarily just to install vlc (once F-9 has
0.9.5).
That's really bad idea, that's not certains to have the same ABI
for
all the dependencies.
You have probably broke your Fedora installation, doing things like this.
Actually, I've raised the problem to have it fixed within rpmfusion
with an alternative "replacement" repository, to handle cases like
this.
But for now, I will handle this case using my personal repository.
