I addition: CentOS has no Z-Streams, hence all CentOS users afaics will
be always on the latest RHEL release of each family
Well, that's not true.
Wohh, strong words. Just out of interest (I don't want to spread wrong
information's): What precisely is not true?
Please note that I fully agree to this:
Lots of customers stick to older point releases
sometimes because they need to do a large amount of inhouse testing
before deploying new updates (complex interactions between custom build
software etc) and sometimes because ISV's certify against point releases
and so on.
I don't doubt that. But note that my point was that the bulk of users
(maybe majority would have been the better word) is on the latest
release of a RHEL family (RHEL4, RHEL5). And it seems you agree to that:
However EPEL/ RPMFusion needs to weight the benefit of
supporting such customers. Atleast, for a while, it probably is a good
idea not to spread our resources too thin.
Or do you think it's just easier to support the latest release?
