Just to let you know, I've suceed to "listen sound" with PA been activated
and
user in the pulse-rt group with a portaudio output. The post configuration
needed to acheive this (despite activating portaudio at compile time) was just
to switch to portaudio output and use an alsa portaudio "backend".
(F10-i686-PAE which is a rather old centrino laptop with SSE)
Now I don't think it will be interesting to switch to portaudio by default only
because it will work with PA which is default in Fedora. Alsa is a reasonable
default and a "long term" better autodetection isn't that easy until
traverso
adds native PA support. (Because traverso can receive false positive if it
thinks jack or alsa could work on top of PA)
Given that portaudio shoudn't be a too much expensive requirement for a "audio
creation tool user". I can only recommend you to Add portaudio support until a
native PA output exist.
As you are the traverso package maintainer for Fedora, the decision is yours.

This package (traverso) is APPROVED by me
