I do not understand your comment. xdtv is a tuner application.
_Some_ package has to take responsibility for the udev rules. Whether xdtv is
the right place is something I can't judge. Some driver package might be a
better place.
Said package will need a list of relevant PCI/USB IDs and udev rules granting
permissions for those IDs to the "console user" (meaning in this context: the
user physically in front of the machine).
I'm not sure whether granting blanket permissions for internal (as opposed to
USB) devices to the console user is considered secure enough though.
It would need to be 664 at least i guess.
That allows any random user logged in through SSH to read from your TV device.
I doubt that's really what you want. At the very least it needs to be
restricted to the user actually in front of the machine.
