Why would it need manual tweaking? Because you don't have a list
of all the
relevant USB or PCI IDs?
I do not understand your comment. xdtv is a tuner
application. Despite related
to /dev/video* it is not the only application related to this devices and there
is no reason to change perms from within the xdtv package. Thus i'm talking
about manual tweaking (if not moving the default behaviour from the distro).
By default my bttv driver create theses perms:
crw-rw----+ 1 root root 81, 0 oct 7 09:42 /dev/video0
...
crw-rw----+ 1 root root 81, 224 oct 7 09:42 /dev/vbi0
It would need to be 664 at least i guess. And AFAIK udev will requires to know
which module is used (bttv for me) instead of the pci id's.
