Hi folks,
I've just finished build-testing an update of x264 (to ABI level 115)
and ffmpeg (to 0.7.3, which requires x264 ABI 115) in mock. Almost
all current F-14 SRPMS rebuilt fine, with the following exceptions:
avidemux (needs a patch for x264 ABI 115, already patched in F-15)
dvdstyler (needs a one-line patch to use enum instead of int)
vdr-dxr3 (needs a small Makefile patch to build some files with
-D__STDC_CONSTANT_MACROS)
xdtv (needs a patch to link against libavutil)
None of the FFmpeg patches are related to 0.6 -> 0.7 upgrade,
as far as I can tell, but rather to gcc update. For example,
xdtv was rebuilt around F-12 last time.
I haven't actually tested if everything runs fine and functions
as it should... I need some help here.
I intend to try the same in F-15 and then try with latest x264
and FFmpeg 0.8.x in F-16.

This fix is related to ffmpeg, I don't know if it will apply to the
current version in F-15, or even F-16 given that we don't have ffmpeg
0.7.2 there yet.
My point is that until we have some experience with newer ffmpeg (in
F16 at least) there is no point to update ffmpeg in older branches.
Thx for reverting dvdstyler update in F-14. We may need to rebuild
dvdstyler for another reason.

conditional based on the ABI level of x264 and I went ahead and added
it to F-14 on the last build, but those are still in -testing. If you
decide to implement the update before they make it into stable, we'll
just need to kill those builds.

Ahhh, that explains it, you probably got 2.5.5-2 instead of 2.5.5-4
which is still in -testing. If so, try with -4 and let me know if it
works.

xdtv is unmaintained upstream and I've orphaned it before F-15.
The F-14 branch is there in case of dependeny problem, but I don't
expect to handle such big ffmpeg update and the problem it may create
at runtime in F-14.

The xdtv patch is trivial, and AFAICT it's needed because of the implicit
linking changes in F13, not because of any FFmpeg change. (Rathann says the
package was last built in F12.)

done in rawhide.
For F-15, I will. For F-14 I only wanted to do the minimum necessary
changes. Note that I haven't even tagged the modified packages yet.
The builds will be done in rawhide first, don't worry.

update from 0.6.3 to 0.7.3 qualifies as minimal?!

Actually I'm not at home so despite it can be possible if really
needed, I won't push any update until next friday. So please push the
work in devel first. It can be possible to update F-15 x264 to ABI 115
as discussed previously also. But this doesn't need to rush.
