FYI, the main nvidia serie is replaced by the nvidia-304xx serie in F-18
(and on a later step in F-17)
This will allow to introduce a newer driver without breaking users using
geforce 6/7 card which support has been dropped
Also, this driver has seen some fixes wrt conflicting resolution with the
default framebuffer.
Please verify that on this update:
- You have the matching nvidia kernel module (modinfo -F version nvidia
output 304.88)
- You do not have any /dev/fb*
- You don't override ModulePath without reason in /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d(so
you are using the right nvidia libglx.so)
- You boot using GRUB_LINUX_PAYLOAD=text and don't have GFXPAYLOAD set to
any resolution
- nouveau isn't loaded by default (lsmod |grep nouveau) or at least it can
be unloaded using rmmod nouveau.
Also to be solved before the F-17 EOL and F-19 is the nvidia-settings
legacy that will rebase the 173xx to this new packaging scheme:
