Could you post a list archive pointer where this particular point is
discussed? VDR is in Fedora, and it can cut recordings; someone who knows
the specifics will need to check whether it does it in an acceptable way.

in having parts across the two repos ?
Yes, keeping stuff in sync between the repos. What are the benefits of
splitting it that way - are the parts you think are ok for Fedora useful by
themselves?
