I build the kmods for the kernel that were shipped with the beta. If you
follow rawhide then you might want to install the akmod-packages (e.g.
akmod-nvidia); then the akmods scripts will automatically build new kmod
packages when you install a new kernel-install (or during boot); that's
similar to how dkms does it.
The plan is to rebuild all kmods in RPM Fusion for the latest rawhide
kernel automatically once a week (likely on each Sunday) to make sure
they still compile (and for users with slow netbooks, where you don't
want to compile modules); but I haven't got around to set that up yet,
sorry.

Testing community for rpmfusion
by "Jóhann B. Guðmundsson"
I've been thinking if there's any interest in creating a testing
community within rpmfusion
If there is any interest....
Hows accessible is wiki?
How good is the work between maintainers and upstream ?
Is it possible to get a test list ?

Brought over there from fedora-devel; see

for details.

That exactly is one of those few packages that have not been build yet.

That was a old decision. Some people that influenced that decision left
RPM Fusion later; other people that disagreed with the decision right
when it was made hence said that the decision should be revisited. But
nothing real came out of it yet. Maybe this discussion leads to a decision.
> Does it mean that for some packages (in general) users will still need
> Livna?
I'd say something like that is the best. A simple, small repo (I don't
care if we call it foo, bar, freshrpms, livna or whatever) IMHO is
definitely the wises things to do to keep RPM Fusion clean. Setting that
repo up should not be a big problem.
Cut'n'pasting some old arguments from older discussions here:
* we already lost one major long-term Fedora and Livna contributor
from Europe because he feared to even contribute to a repo that might
contain libdvdcss.
* There are likely a lot more Fedora contributors that won't
contribute to RPM Fusion (livna showed that in the past) as long as
there is a package like libdvdcss in the repos
* I hope that we in the long term can cooperate with proprietary
software companies to get their software (things like flash, adobe
reader and similar stuff) into our nonfree repo; that will likely never
happen if we have something like libdvdcss in the repo
* it could create trouble for people mirroring or using RPM Fusion;
thus some people will decide not to mirror or use RPM Fusion
* having libdvdcvs in one of our repos could lead to projects or
cooperation's not to mention or link to us. That's not limited to Fedora
or Red Hat; also some journalists and howto-writers will also chose to
*not* mention RPM Fusion and thus not link to us, as it might be to
dangerous in some countries
So to sum things up: If we ship libdvdcss in one of our repos we will
ship a package that is way more bad (read as: known to be illegal not
only in the US, but also in more than a few other country's, including
the one I'm from) than all the other packages we have; that's creates
more trouble for users, contributors and thus RPM Fusion than it solves.
Thus I'm still all for leaving libdvdcss out; livna, freshrpms or a
brand new, small repo dedicated to just libdvdcss could ship it. Heck it
IMHO shouldn't hurt us much if we help users to get it from there
magically/automatically as long as libdvdcss itself is not directly in
our repos.

Should all be fixed in the currently building rawhide build, by simply
removing the convenience mythgame-emulators meta-package. Will build for
f8 and f9 after the rawhide one is done (and after I get some sleep).
Fwiw, also got fast_cmov support finally working on x86_64 builds,
something noticed during review (turned out to be a buglet in mythtv's
configure script).

First steps of the transition from Livna to RPM Fusion begins now for livna-devel users!
by Thorsten Leemhuis
Hi!
Find below a cut'n'pasted and slightly enhanced version of a post from
my blog FYI:
As you'll likely have heard by now: RPM Fusion ( http://rpmfusion.org ),
the merger of Dribble, Freshrpms and Livna gets closer to its official
release/start. Most of the packages from Livna have been imported and
build for RPM Fusion already, hence we now begin to slowly move users
from Livna over to RPM Fusion by activating the RPM Fusion free and
nonfree rawhide repos for users of livna's devel branch *now*.
The transition works like this: I just added the rpmfusion-release
packages for the RPM Fusion's free and nonfree rawhide repos to the
livna-devel repo; in parallel I built a new livna-release package that
tracks those two in with a hard dep. That way all users that installed
livna properly (e.g. by installing the livna-release package) will get
RPM Fusion repos enabled automatically with the next update. Yum/PK will
hence with the overnext update will download a big bunch of updates, as
all the packages were build anew for RPM Fusion; but rawhide users are
likely used to big downloads, so this should hopefully not be a big
problem ;-)
Note, nearly all of livna's packages have been imported and build for
RPM Fusion, but a few are still missing. So you should leave livna-devel
enabled for now if you want access to those. Once all the packages have
a new home we'll let the rpmfusion-nonfree-release package obsolete
livna-release.
But please note that all the packages that have been imported and build
in RPM Fusion will *not* be updated anymore in livna-devel! Hence if you
didn't install livna using the livna-release package then please enable
RPM Fusion using the following command:
> rpm -ivh \
> http://download1.rpmfusion.org/nonfree/fedora/rpmfusion-nonfree-release-r...
That command from now on is the right one to use if you want RPM Fusion
enabled on your fresh new Fedora Alpha/Beta/RC/Rawhide install.
FYI, the plan is to move livna users of F8 and F9 over to RPM Fusion
with the same trick sooner or later. But some things in RPM Fusion need
to get brought in shape before we start doing that. But if you want you
can already help by using and testing RPM Fusion for F8 and F9 by
running this command:
> rpm -ivh \
> http://download1.rpmfusion.org/nonfree/fedora/rpmfusion-nonfree-release-s...
RPM Fusion's Bugtracker (please report all issues here and not on the
mailing lists!):

Please spread the news, to make sure all the docs in the internet get
updated! tia!
CU

P.S.: BTW, some of you might have noticed already, the livna mailing
lists (like freeworld{,-graphics}(a)livna.org) are dead since a few weeks;
the hard disk in Anvil's mailman host died afaik (I don't know more
details; sorry). But Livna will be superseded by RPM Fusion soon anyway,
so simply use the those lists from rpmfusion from now on. They should
serve well for the remaining time, as all the livna contributors should
be subscribed there as well. Sorry for the trouble.
P.P.S.: Sorry for crossposting this to four lists, but it seemed wise
for this announcement...
