Call for help: mock configs for RPM Fusion
by Thorsten Leemhuis
Hi!
More and more people asked for mock configs files that they can use for
test-building RPM Fusion packages. I don't have such files, but I
uploaded the mock config files used on the builders to
http://www.leemhuis.info/files/fedorarpms/MISC.rfu/mock/
DON'T USE THEM! They need modifications before they are ready for
normaly use!
I'd thus appreciate it if someone with a few spare cycles could take
them and update them (see below)(¹); we after that should create
rpmfusion-mockcfgs-{non,}free packages(²); after reviewing those we can
put them in our repos.
Here are some of the things that need to be modified before the mock
configs are ready to use:
* remove the buildsys_private and buildsys_kernel-devel-pkgs repos from
all configs; those repo contain packages used for bootstrapping or deps
that are not yet in the proper Fedora repos
* remove the baseurl= and the hardcoded local mirros and let mock use
mirrormanager uri's just like the stock mock configs for Fedora do
* comment out the needsign repos; those normally should not be used, but
that makes it easy for RPM Fusion contributors to enable them in case
they need them
* remove the packager and vendor tags
* while at it: check the mock configs for sanity; it took quite a while
to write those; maybe I did a mistakes here or there
* maybe there are a few other things in today's mock config files from
Fedora that we could merge into the RPM Fusion mock config files
CU
knurd
(¹) -- if you are willing to do that work please let the list know to
avoid duplicated work
(²) -- we could also add them to the rpmfusion-release packages, but I
think shipping them separately makes more sense as the two then can be
updated individually; that will avoid a few unnecessary rpmnewfiles on
users systems

Policy when dependencies break on updates?
by Orcan Ogetbil
Hi,
Since I'm new with packaging for a 3rd part repo I need to get certain things clear.
What is the policy whenever Fedora pushes new packages to its updates repo and that breaks package dependencies of rpmfusion?
For instance, right now xmms-*.rpm packages are updated in Fedora and yum says:
----------------------------------------------
Resolving Dependencies
--> Running transaction check
--> Processing Dependency: xmms-libs = 1:1.2.10 for package: xmms-mp3
---> Package xmms-libs.i386 1:1.2.11-1.20071117cvs.1.fc9 set to be updated
--> Finished Dependency Resolution
xmms-mp3-1.2.10-6.fc9.x86_64 from installed has depsolving problems
--> Missing Dependency: xmms-libs = 1:1.2.10 is needed by package xmms-mp3-1.2.10-6.fc9.x86_64 (installed)
Error: Missing Dependency: xmms-libs = 1:1.2.10 is needed by package xmms-mp3-1.2.10-6.fc9.x86_64 (installed)
----------------------------------------------
There might be cases where the package maintainer (xmms-mp3) is not around (sleeping, on a trip, in depression etc.). How do we solve such a problem then? For example, in this case I can fix the problem in the cvs right away, since I'm one of the few avaliable people at this hour, but I don't know if I'm supposed to. Or if I do fix the problem in cvs, would it be considered rude?
Well if I do, then there is also a package signing step. Is this done manually?
In fedora, there are ueberpackagers who can access/modify other people's packages. Do we have such a hierarchy system in rpmfusion?
This ends my flood of questions (for now) :)
Cheers,
-oget

Couple Minor Issues
by Christopher Stone
The information button at https://fas.rpmfusion.org/accounts/home wrt.
the client-side certificate says that it should be saved as
~/.fedora.cert when in actuality it should be saved as
~/.rpmfusion.cert
Also the ./common/cvs-import.sh script no longer recognizes the -t
option even though the -help option says it's a valid option.
