Contributing to the Nvidia driver (RHEL/CentOS too)

Hello, I would like to step up into mantaining the Nvidia driver for Fedora and introducing it to RHEL/CentOS as well. I have quite some experience with them and have all sort of hardware (Optimus laptops, SLI systems, etc.) and operating systems to test on. I would like to merge some (all?) of the changes listed on my repository [1] into RPMFusion. Some are not relevant (like dkms modules, the package rename, etc.) and maybe we could create a list of points for merging. The RHEL effort actually is very limited [2] compared to Fedora and I have quite an experience in that as well; so this would be an easy win. I've also prepared new 331.17 packages that build also the "multiple" kernel module variant [3] for systems with multiple video cards for CUDA setups. The "basic nvidia driver" package for the casual user/gamer requires the smaller and basic driver package; while the "cuda enabled driver" pulls in the additional modules required for particular setups. repoview not being updated

Hi all, Can one of the admins please fix repoview updating, currently it is not being updated, ie: http://download1.rpmfusion.org/free/fedora/development/rawhide/x86_64/os/... Points to the quite old 1.1.3, rather then the less old 1.2.0, or the recent 1.2.1 Regards, Hans

lpf-* packages review process.

With the lpf package under way to fedora stable and the first lpf-* packages on their way into rpmfusion there is an issue with the review process fo llpf-* packages (an lpf package). An lpf package is basically a wrapper for the spec for a target package. E. g. lpf-skype contains lpf.skype.spec and skype.spec.in (see [1]). Formally, when reviewing the lpf-skype package a reviewer should review the package spec i. e., lpf-skype.spec. However, this is just some copy-paste code which is more or less the same for all lpf packages. It's still evolving, but it should be more or less a non-issue when reviewing. However, each lpf package contains a target spec, skype.spec.in in the example. This is the real stuff, the package user installs after building it. IMHO, the target spec should be the real issue when reviewing. In a short perspective, I'm trying to keep this lpf thing in a limited number of hands, so this is not a concern right now. However, I think it's time to formalize this for rpmfusion. Since lpf packages are rpmfusion only, we cannot lean on the Fedora review guidelines for this. Even the tooling (fedora-review) is totally blind for the target package. Which boils down to a simple question: should we have a rpmfusion rule that when reviewing lpf packages the target spec and package should be reviewed somehow (as well as the "normal" spec, normally a non-issue)? Non-redistributable packages: Skype, spotify, ...

On the wishlist and/or dead reviews we have some re-distributable packages such as skype, spotify and msttcore-fonts. After scratching my head over these I've hacked some silly scripts , called them lpf (Local package Factory) and made a package of it. It's on it's way into fedora, currently in rawhide, f20 and f19 updates-testing. Using this package it should be simpler to package a thing like spotify. The downloader lpf-spotfy-client is also on it's way into fedora, lpf-skype needs a review. The overall idea here is to have a common framework for these packages simplifying for both users and packagers. Since they by definition don't contain any upstream stuff they go into fedora rather than rpmfusion, although they are on the rpmfusion wishlist. I don't know if this is a good idea.
