[Bug 6835] New: Sponsorship request for wiki: miika
by RPM Fusion Bugzilla
https://bugzilla.rpmfusion.org/show_bug.cgi?id=6835
Bug ID: 6835
Summary: Sponsorship request for wiki: miika
Product: Package Reviews
Version: Current
Hardware: x86_64
OS: GNU/Linux
Status: NEW
Severity: enhancement
Priority: P1
Component: Review Request
Assignee: rpmfusion-package-review(a)rpmfusion.org
Reporter: miika.km.tuominen(a)gmail.com
CC: rpmfusion-package-review(a)rpmfusion.org
namespace: free
Hello. I'm interested in contributing to the wiki, and it seems I need to get a
sponsor to be able to do that. I did not find any instructions on getting a
sponsorship in order to edit the wiki (without submitting a package to be
reviewed), but I figured creating a ticket here was the most rational way.
I was interested in improving specifically the "Howto/Optimus/NVIDIA PrimaryGPU
Support" section, since currently it has instructions for setting Nvidia as the
primary GPU only on X11, but not wayland (which is the only supported display
server anyway). The reason I consider this important information is because on
laptops, you need to have Nvidia as the primary driver in order to use a second
monitor.
In the spirit of leaving the campground cleaner than I found it, I would also
like to add instructions to the contributing page on how to edit the wiki, as
it took a while for me to find out what I have to do. And I'm still not sure,
since the wiki login claims I don't have correct credentials - maybe it will
work when I join the "wikiedit" group.
Feel free to ask any questions.

ffms2 moving to Fedora
by Dominik 'Rathann' Mierzejewski
Hi!
It looks like ffms2 can be moved to Fedora now. I opened a review ticket
with the 5.0-RC3 build. Cc'ing Igor, the original maintainer, though I
suspect he might be too busy to keep maintaining it.
Bugzilla ticket for reference:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2274319
I'll post again when it's ready to be retired.
Regards,
Dominik

gpac can be moved to Fedora
by Dominik 'Rathann' Mierzejewski
Hi!
It looks like gpac can be moved to Fedora now. The only optional
dependency enabled by default in the current package is faad2, but AAC
decoding works fine via FFmpeg (ffdec:libfdk_aac or ffdec:aac with
libavcodec-freeworld). In fact, FFmpeg decoder is used by default even
if gpac is built with faad2 support enabled.
I'd like this to happen soon, so if Nicolas doesn't want to or doesn't
have time to submit the review request within the next few days, I'll
happily do it.

F40 final freeze next week
by Nicolas Chauvet
Hi there,
Just a reminder that the final freeze is in one week (and this
week-end will be Easter for some).
https://fedorapeople.org/groups/schedule/f-40/f-40-all-tasks.html
Please list any action you want to have in f40 buildroot by default.
Also remind that legacy nvidia drivers are untagged for f40 as it's
not clear if there are active maintainers. Please volunteer and take
over maintenance in pkgdb, you will just need to rebuild the packages
for f40 to re-introduce them.
Thanks

Thanks for working on 7.0 update. This is an ABI bump and there was no
announcement on RPM Fusion developers mailing list (nor on Fedora
developers list), so please revert this. None of the dependent packages
in RPM Fusion has been rebuilt as far as I can tell, so this can be done
without using Epoch, I think.
As I mentioned[1], I am planning to build 7.0 and evaluate the impact of
this update some time after the F40 release.
Moreover, the Fedora side is not ready yet and will not be for some time
as we have to evaluate the possible legal impact of the changes in this
new release. This will take at least a few weeks as most of the relevant
maintainers are busy.
