The VMwareDnD directory is what is recommended by the open-vm-tools
packaging
wiki:
http://open-vm-tools.wiki.sourceforge.net/Packaging
It's used to store temporary files duing drag'n drop operations.
Odd. But the real solution afaics then is to let the initscript make sure that
the directory is there -- otherwise drag'n'drop will fail once somebody did
"rm
-rf /tmp/*" (tmpwatch or similar cleanup scripts might delete the directory as
well)
This probably
would be happier somewhere in /var/tmp. We could patch the code for this.
Not sure if diverging from upstream is worth the trouble; it might create more
problems (and confusion) then it solves
The setuid flag on mount.vmhgfs is also what is recommended by
upstream...
Just to make sure: Users via mount.vmhgfs do not gain access to standard block
devices (and their contents) that they normally have no access to?
