Hi,
How strictly does RPM Fusion adhere to Fedora packaging guidelines?
There have been exemptions made for certain packages that have no
legal issues but are precluded from distribution in Fedora for
technical reasons -- e.g. kernel modules. Would a similar deviation be
allowed for a package that creates one directory outside the FHS
hierarchy?
The package in question is Nix, a purely functional package manager --
it's used as the primary package manager for NixOS, but works fine in
other distributions as well (akin to how you can use MacPorts on top
of OS X). Packages are installed in /nix/store by default and
symlinked to the user's home directory (in ~/.nix-profile).

I *could* make it comply to the FHS by moving the directory used for
storage, but then pre-built binaries can no longer be used as they all
expect that location, and the user would have to bootstrap and
recompile everything.
Would this package be fine in RPM Fusion? One Fedora packaging
committee member (Toshio Kuratomi) thinks it might be appropriate, and
another (Ralf Corsepius) thinks not; they both think it will not be
allowed in Fedora (the packaging committee will discuss it tomorrow).
Thanks,
