That kind of 'disruptive change' is more likely to be expected in a
fedora version before.
Can you please sync your changes to devel and F-17. I don't see any
interest in having an update for earlier branches. (either creating a
compat sub-package or disabling it).

Can you list the packages that would still use libfame ?
I can't find anything that uses it, although my repoquery-fu may not
be good enough. I thought we needed it for MythTV but I can't find
anything in "repoquery --requires mythtv\*" that shows it does. I've
commented it out of the BuildRequires: and I'm building now. It may be
left over from an earlier version.
If nothing uses it, do we need to keep it around? It hasn't been
updated in a LONG time.
PS: BTW, I'm working on ffmpeg-compat for EL-6, to be reviewed
ASAP.
I'll take a look as soon as I can, just been a bit busy lately.
