Hugin is the featured article of the week at LWN, and Fedora is specifically mentioned, in that our package is crippled (thanks a bunch, software patent laws!). http://lwn.net/SubscriberLink/351053/4c479d238c69ae76/ Would there be interest in packaging a full version for RPMfusion, and if so, would it be in -free or -nonfree? bsnes 0.051+

Hi, as of 0.051, bsnes is now GPL. This is not the only change, however. It also now requires an additional library [1] to support compressed ROM images. The problem is that this library seems (at the first glance) contain mostly duplicated code from rar, 7-zip and friends, albeit modified. I have no skills nor time to try patching it up to use system-wide libs, so I have no idea how to proceed. For now, I have requested the latest bsnes build not to be pushed to stable, but it is of course only temporary. I have attached a preliminary spec file, which gets the job done. The thing is whether we are willing to accept such a chunk of (at least partially) duplicated code to save the ability of bsnes to use compressed ROM images. "yum install kmod-foo" installing wrong versions - problem with kmodtool?

Just a heads up: there has been a lot of user reports of problems recently with all kmods from rpmfusion. I haven't quite got to the bottom of it, but essentially it seems that if you're running the i686 kernel (which is now PAE only) and you install a kmod as usual with "yum install kmod-foo", then it will pull in the i586 version of the kmod instead of the correct i686 PAE version. The solution/workaround seems to be to remove the i586 kernel and kmod, then you must do "yum install kmod-foo-PAE" specifically. This is causing quite a lot of confusion, and for the sake of our users I think it would be nice if we could fix this so that a "yum install kmod-foo" will install the correct kmod (as it used to I believe). Is this something that can be fixed in the kmodtool, or do us kmod maintainers need to fix something in the spec files? I just wanted to clarify this, what will happen if I use %{ix86} anyways? why not just hardcode i686 in then? That is i386 for F-10, i586 for F-11 and i686 for devel. You would normally use this: ExclusiveArch: %{ix86} But this do not work in plague. Plague would build for ALL ix86 arch available. Therefore, to achieve the wanted result you should do something like this: %if 0%{?fedora} >= 12 ExclusiveArch: i686 %endif %if 0%{?fedora} >= 11 ExclusiveArch: i586 %else ExclusiveArch: i386 %endif It's ugly but it works.
